A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
So how did this series start? Fun question, back in 2012 I was giving my husband crap about not reading my books, at that point I’d had a dozen regencies out, and a few contemporaries and he was like I only read suspense, then we found out that this guy from the mafia was hiding out around 30 miles from our house, it made the news, he’d been hiding out for I believe over 20 years and the FBI raided his farm. He was beloved by his entire community and they even signed a petition to get his charges dropped. My husband read it and was like this, this is what I would love to read. I was so insecure at the time (little did I know) about writing suspense that I just jumped right into it. It was a crazy process of a ton of research about the mafia (that later became an obsession) and buying every single book I could on the Cosa Nostra’s history in the states. I can one hundred percent promise that what you’re reading was in fact researched to the point that I have a “mafia” Bible in my home (it’s seen better days at this point). I didn’t go read other mafia books from other romance authors and in fact refuse to do so, so that mine is authentic and based on fact not fiction, though there are some fictional things in there because, come on, romance ;) I hope you guys enjoy the stories and know that this is one of my favorite series of all time, and also one of my best selling series with millions of reads worldwide <3

Sergio
The fluorescent lights burned my eyes. I blinked them rapidly—thinking it would make the stinging go away, but it only made everything worse. The pain was indescribable, like someone had broken my body in half, repaired it, and then repeated the process.
“He’s not going to make it.” I recognized the voice. It was Nixon’s. Why the hell was Nixon there? Wasn’t he dead? No wait, that was me. I’d taken that bullet.
